The Myth
Progressives claim basic necessity such as healthcare are basic rights and these rights must be granted by government.
The Facts
If the government grants us our basic needs even if they are labeled as rights the government can take away these rights or withhold them to force us to comply with their wishes. Our rights then can become a weapon used by the government to punish us or chains to enslave us.
The Truth
We must never allow government to become the only source for our basic needs. We must be as self-sufficient as humanly possible. What ever we cannot provide for ourselves we must look to our family, our friends, our church, our community when we are in need, never the government. It is our responsibility, even our duty, as individuals to help those in need when we are able to. This must be done voluntarily, out of the goodness of out hearts. It is immoral for the government to confiscate our wealth in the form of taxes and transfer that wealth to individual or groups of individuals who the government declares are in need.
We can never let the government to become the sole source for any of our basic needs. If the government becomes the sole source of basic needs it will use those basic needs to control us. That is the very nature of government.
The more the government provides for us the bigger government has to grow. The bigger government grows the more it harms our individual liberty and prosperity. That is why the framers wrote a Constitution that created a limited federal government with only certain enumerated powers
The Proof
We have already heard members of the government state we must eat healthier, we must lose weight, we must not smoke or do anything that is bad for us, How does the government justify dictating to us how we must live our lives? The government must dictate to us how we live our lives because government will soon be providing our healthcare.
